Three Cups of Tea

One of the best and most influential books I have ever read is Greg Mortenson's "Three Cups of Tea - One Man's Mission to Promote Peace ... One School at a Time." Amazingly, this book still ranks at #13 on Amazon's bestseller list. To me, this shows that Americans REALLY DO CARE about education, education around the world, and especially about educating girls.

You probably know that providing basic education to girls has life-changing effects. Educated girls and women have lower HIV infection rates and earn more money. These benefits reach families, communities and whole countries, helping to lift more people out of poverty.

The "Education for All Act" makes achieving universal primary education a U.S. foreign policy priority. It will pave the way for increased funding for schools, teachers and supplies, particularly in areas of the world ravaged by poverty and conflict. Please, contact your member of Congress and tell him or her to co-sponsor the Education for All Act today. Just click here. (because of the targeted link, you might get to see how I screwed up filling out the form and listed my name as Wong Wong)
