Return of the Culture War

On September 2nd, 2008, John McCain's campaign manager said, "This election is not about the issues." To me, that is a public declaration that the Republicans consider this election the equivalent of a middle school popularity contest; an election in which the party with the latest emotion-drenched, tear-jerking, fear-mongerin campaign ad will win. Since the Republicans outright lie in their ads (see "Obama will raise taxes") while the Democrats will only stretch the truth or use innuendo (read this), the outcome of such a personality contest could be four to eight more years of a criminally negligent government

So, let us keep to the issues and debunk the lies and fear-mongering. I believe that Barack Obama offers REAL, COMPLEX, NUANCED solutions to many of the problems that confront our nation today. (Just read the book!) He is the one person with the intellect, moral character, and work ethic who can even hope to overcome the last disastrous 8 years and bring a new level of moral, fiscal, and ecological responsibility.

Can reason triumph over fear? Are the American people really stupid enough to vote for another Republican administration? The next few weeks will tell the tale.
